About Yusuf Bavi
Yusuf Bavi earned his Juris Doctorate from Columbia University School of Law in New York. He is a second generation immigrant and the first professional in his family. Prior to law school, he was a Fulbright Professor in Meknes, Morocco. He also served as a Mickey Leland Fellow in Washington D.C. , and a Legislative Professional in then Senator John Whitmire's capitol office during the 86th Texas Legislative Session. He has lived and worked in North Africa and the Middle East and he is able to read, write, and speak in Arabic.

Yusuf grew up in the Fondren area of Southwest Houston. His mother is African-American and his father is Arab-Iranian. Growing up around so many different cultures led him to see our similarities, but also to question the norms around him and pursue his own path. Seeing things differently meant that he often had to take a stand for what he believed in. In his practice, he is able to bring people together. But he is also unafraid to rock the boat.
Yusuf began his journey to practicing law by sitting in HISD temporary buildings with no air conditioning in the Texas heat. He took it all the way to the highest ranked law school in the biggest city in the United States. He fought his way there and made it, and he will fight for you too.

Yusuf has practiced law in New York and Houston as a prosecutor, a civil litigator, and as a public defender. Yusuf Bavi has stood his ground in rooms where many others would have folded, and he has turned down job offers from multi-national firms in order to pursue this vision.
